Meditation can be used to relieve a variety of ailments, both physical and mental. Chronic pain, stress, anger, sadness, trauma, and more respond to the healing power of your mind. Meditation can also help with weight loss.
A lot of the reasons you may be overweight have to do with your mind more than your body. If you can harness the power of your mind, you can be one step closer to having a healthier and more fit body.
Self hypnosis for weight loss is basically the same thing as meditation. It is a guided meditation for weight loss usually performed while listening to a CD or mp3 file. The soothing voice of a professional hypnotherapist helps beginners get into the meditative state. Once your mind is receptive the hypnotherapist guides you in developing powerful new habits to achieve your weight loss goals.
You may be tempted to run out and buy a lot of books or do a lot of research on meditation. This is great – knowledge is power. But as far as meditation, the best way to begin is to begin. You don’t need any equipment. If you want help getting started then weight loss hypnosis mp3 downloads are great. You can download and be using them in a matter of minutes.
If you want to try to meditate on your own, then here are some tips to get you started.
• Have a special place to meditate. This can be a corner of your bedroom. Make sure it is somewhere you won’t be disturbed. If you have young kids, you can even meditate in the bathroom, which is often the only place parents can have a few minutes alone.
• To begin with, get comfortable. You can sit with your back against the wall, supported by a cushion. You can even sit in a chair. There are more traditional poses, such as lotus, but you can definitely meditate just sitting comfortably in a chair.
• Take a few deep breaths then just concentrate on your breathing. Don’t try to change it. Just be aware of it, although for some people it can help to allow a little pause after the out breath to start with. When you do this you will find the body takes care of the next in breath naturally when it is ready. This can help if you find you tend to want to control your breathing, it allows you to hand over control of your breathing to your body so that you can just be aware of it and not force it.
• Try to get rid of distractions. This is hard to do, but you’ll get better at it as you practice. When thoughts float by, just let them go. Don’t get worked up because you’re thinking too much, because that makes you think more. Just let them float by. You can always deal with them later. If you are having big problems with this then the self hypnosis mp3s may be a good option for you because it easier to abandon your own thoughts when you have a soothing voice to listen to.
• Use visualization to help deal with distractions. You can imagine yourself in a place that is comfortable and safe. If you like nature, you can imagine yourself sitting in the woods. Use your senses - see the sun shining through the leaves, feel the breeze, smell the pine trees, feel the tree bark you’re leaning against. Taste the clean air. You can also picture yourself thin and healthy, which can help your mind get ready for the body you want to have.
• You can add a mantra to help yourself stay focused. You can repeat a specific goal or even one word over and over again in your mind. Find something that works for you; there are no magic words.
• If you don’t like the idea of a mantra, not to worry, one of the best meditation techniques is called simply “mindfulness with breathing”. With this technique you just follow your own breath by noticing it enter your nose, follow it down to your abdomen, then back up again as it exits the nose. After awhile forget about the middle section and just focus on the two endpoints, the nose and the abdomen. As your mind gets more relaxed and your breathing slows down just focus on the sensation of the breathing in your nose. This is called “guarding the gate”, and once you are able to get to that level you will find the meditation flows and you start to enter more relaxed states quite naturally.
When you get good at this, or perhaps to help you get good at it, consider using the self hypnosis for weight loss downloads some of the time as well. This gives you the added benefit of receiving powerful weight loss suggestions while you are in the meditative state, which can make a big difference when it comes to training your mind for successful weight loss.
There are even options where you can use advanced technology to meditate better. The Center Point Research Institue offers a Free CD that they will mail to you that demonstrates their Holosync technology. You simply listen to the cd and you are transported into a deep meditative state.
When you’re losing weight, you won’t be successful until your mind and your body are working together. Strengthening and focusing your mind will help you achieve your goals, not only with fast weight loss, but with other areas of your life as well.
